Pb – Serving mistakes

  1. Not pointing front foot where you want the ball to go. Pointing your toe towards your target forces your chest to face the target. Then you will no longer serve across your body . Allows your back leg to come forward and help you drive the ball with your body
  2. Not moving back behind the baseline after your serve, resulting in a misread of the serve return and losing the point
  3. Holding the ball in the wrong spot for the serving hand to hit. You should let arm rest naturally at your side and then lift.

PB – serving like a pro

  1. Remind yourself that you want receiver to take a step back or side not forward towards the net. Aim for blank space and / or back hand
  2. Stand 2ft from center (to not telegraph where you will hit and provide option to hit down the t or wide )
  3. Front toe is pointing towards net post (to remind you to engage hips)
  4. Back leg follows through to open body to explode
  5. Paddle arm is not a pushing motion but snapping . Slow , slow slow and then snap. Arm is loose
  6. Wrist is loose and grip on handle is loose (to allow snapping ). No death grip.

Other items not mentioned : 1) bounce ball to help focus , get eye and hand coordination and mess with opponent ;

2) toss ball slightly to help with applying top spin; 3) couldn’t tell grip style used by Tanner but he talks about grips here https://youtube.com/shorts/-fQRXmTJ3lg?si=8qVRxTQt_ufCHHvs. It is most likely Eastern.
